Mary @ 4 Months

Our baby girl turned 4 months old on Saturday!  The past month went by even faster than normal because I went back to work at the beginning of April.  Even though I was sad to leave her and go back to work, she was lucky to have her grandparents here for the past 3 weeks to watch her.  As of today, she joined her big brother at school and had a good first day.  Andrew's whole class swarmed the nursery window when they were playing outside because they all wanted to see Mary.  She was all smiles when she saw Andrew's familiar face.

Mary has become a lot more interactive over the past few weeks.  She smiles all of the time and laughs at her brother, while playing peek-a-boo and when we tickle her belly.  She's still not a fan of tummy time, but the good news is that we're hopefully that her real tummy issues are behind her (lab work at the doctor was good today).  At the doctor, we also got some updated stats: weight - 12.2 pounds (25%) and height - 25 inches (75%).

We have a few trips planned in the next few weeks, (Wisconsin for cousin Kate's baptism and Hilton Head for the annual Gibbons beach trip) so we'll be sure to update the blog.

3 Month Update

Mary is a quarter year old (aka 3 months)! She has changed a lot in the past month. She is getting stronger and happier (despite the fact that we are having to try another special formula that you can't get in stores due to her continued tummy issues). She loves to watch her brother - constantly following the sound of his voice around the room. She is also drooling a lot and wants her hands in her mouth all of the time, so I hope she isn't starting to teethe already (Andrew got his first 2 theeth at 4 months). She has had 2 short little belly laughs and I hope to hear a lot more this month. She also caught her first cold - probably from her brother who has had a runny nose since November. 2 month update

Mary is now 2 months old and is changing so fast! She weighed in at 10 lbs 2 oz (25%) and is 22 3/4 inches long (70%) as of her 2 month check up yesterday. We are glad that she's gaining weight because she is still having some tummy issues (dairy allergy that causes major tummy pains). She's started to get more comfortable as the dairy works its way out of her system and we've seen lots of smiles, coos and squeals of excitement when she's feeling 100%.

Big brother Andrew is still very sweet with her. When I picked him up from school today, he said, "everyone, come see my baby sister - but, don't touch her because you haven't washed your hands." What a good boy! While he's very gentle with Mary, he's been a bit challenging for us, but I think it's due to the fact that he's figured out that he's sharing the spotlight permantly.

1 Month Already?

Mary is already 1 month old! It's hard to believe how fast the time has gone by. She is growing fast (we'll get her 1 month stats at the doctor tomorrow). She's a good eater / sleeper, but we're struggling with some tummy issues. We're hoping she will get some comfort soon as her digestive system develops. She's still really cute despite the fact that she winces in pain so often!

Birthdays

It's been awhile since we've had a new post (we hope to do a better job in 2012), but we have two special things to celebrate as of late.

1) Andrew turned 3! It's amazing how much he's grown up in the past year. He is so inquisitive and talks a mile a minute - he definitely keeps us on our toes. He's still our sweet and happy little boy, but we do see a temper tantrum from time to time. So far, he is very cute with his little sister (see update #2 below) and has some hilarious things to say about her (i.e. 'She is quite a sleeper!). We've posted his 3 year chair pics at the following link.

2) We welcomed Mary Ellen Martin to our family on 12/21/11. She weighed 6 pounds 15 ounces and was 19 3/4 inches long. She came a few days early, but was a wonderful early Christmas present. We will have many more Mary related posts to come, but for now, we wanted to go ahead and post the start of her chair pictures - 1 week old pics are here.

Piano Man

We realize we don't post much any more - apologies for that. We do update the Picasa picture pages fairly often so check there.

However, did want to provide the video clip below of our little piano man. He had a weekend at Ga-Ga's and Grandpa Fred's and decided to learn a new skill.
